Gabriele Worgitzki

Gabriele Worgitzki was born in 1973 in Berlin Köpenick. In 1989 she moved to Manheim. Having always loved drawing, she began to photograph when she was 14. Capturing her parents on camera was important for her, as if she could somehow sense that she would not go back home for a long time.

After finishing school, Gabriele Worgitzki studied at Kunsthochschule Saarbrücken, Bildende, changing after two years to UDK Berlin, completing her degree as a master student under Katharina Sieverding.

During her studies she worked for Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (NBK) and assisted Heim Steinbach. After her Degree she worked at a framer’s and learnt to mount pictures, whilst also producing and exhibiting her own work.

“Anyone who has ever wanted to put a picture on the wall, knows how important and difficult it is to decide on a form of presentation.”

Gabriele Worgitzki has been a private art tutor since 2012 and is a guest lecturer at Neue Schule für Fotografie, teaching forms of Presentation. She likes to pass on her knowledge to students, knowing how difficult it is to present images appropriately and effectively. She also knows how difficult it is to find an individual artistic position, and patiently spends time answering the many questions students have.

Through her art degree and her many years working mounting pictures, Gabriele Worgitzki knows which materials, shapes, and presentation forms have certain connotations and how to use them appropriately. She teaches students about current trends and to question the reasons behind these presentation forms, and to learn how to choose which ones are most appropriate for their own work.
