Tegwen Evans (International Class)

Tegwen Evans grew up in New Jersey, USA, and moved to Berlin in 2016. They completed the Neue Schule für Fotografie’s International Class in 2018 and went on to have numerous collaborations, residencies, group and solo exhibitions, working closely with Berlin’s queer scenes in projects highlighting representation, queer experience, and performance art.

“My goal isn’t to find eternal answers. It is to seek new levels of awareness and never stop growing.”

They founded multiple collectives in Berlin including “The Fake Art” and “Blue Star” and attended the artist residencies PilotenKeuche (Leipzig), Picture Berlin (Berlin), and Berlin Art Institute (Berlin), showing in clubs such as Grießmühle, Die Wilde Renate, and KAKE. They are currently focusing on their collective / upcoming project space Blue Star and a personal installation project.

Tegwen has contemplated and discussed many ethical dilemmas surrounding photography and representation and hopes to bring these questions to the students at Neue Schule für Fotografie, helping guide photographers on how to prepare for ethical difficulties.
