C/O Berlin is a long-term partner of the Neue Schule für Fotografie. As well as students regularly visiting renowned exhibitions, Felix Hoffmann, chief curator of C/O Berlin Foundation, is a guest lecturer at Neue Schule für Fotografie. The foundation also uses the Neue Schule für Fotografie facilities for their workshops.

The Alfred Ehrhardt Stiftung is dedicated to the work of Alfred Ehrhardt, as photographer and documentary film maker is a prime example of “New Objectivity”. The director Christiane Stahl regularly gives workshops at the Neue Schule für Fotografie, sharing her knowledge of gallery and museum exhibitions.

Founded by Helmut Newton in 2003, the Helmut Newton Stiftung is based in a former Prussion officers’ casino in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district. Dr Matthias Harder, curater of the foundation has been a long-term guest lecturer at the Neue Schule für Fotografie.

The European Month of Photography Berlin (MdF Berlin) is the largest german photography festival. It takes places every two years since 2004. The Neue Schule für Fotograf has participeted in the festival with exhibitions and events since 2010.

For many years, Leica Camera AG was our guest with the exhibition of the finalists of the international and traditional Oskar Barnack Award, before LOBA moved to the Leica city of Wetzlar in 2021. We will continue to hold joint workshops with Leica and are already looking forward to our excursion to Wetzlar in the fall of 2022.

Since 2020, Sony has been offering practical workshops for our students, for example in the areas of portraiture and reportage, and has provided us with equipment for rental.

We have a long-standing exchange with the Weißensee Academy of Art. For example, in 2020 our students implemented the speculative design project “Radical Futures” in tandems with textile and surface design students from the Weißensee Academy of Art.

Cooperation partners for our environmental photography program

Campus Stadtnatur of Grün Berlin is our main cooperation partner for the focus on environmental photography and offers workshops at Spreepark and Flugfeld Tegel, among others. Together with the UBZ Kienbergpark we also realize the platform and traveling exhibition “Changing Planet – Network for Young Photographers” since 2020. “Changing Planet” was founded to promote young photographers’ engagement with environmental issues through workshops, discussions, and exhibitions. The international network has since organized exhibitions of more than 80 photographers from over 15 countries.

Born in Medellin and Amsterdam, Native is a non-profit community and platform that connects emerging journalists, documentary makers and visual storytellers from underrepresented regions and communities with major publications and introduce them to a global audience. We implemented the “International Environmental Photography Lab” mentoring program with Native Agency in 2021 and collaborate regularly for “Changing Planet.”

Among other things, the EuroNatur Foundation oversees Europe’s largest nature conservation initiative, the “Green Belt,” which stretches across 24 European countries along the former Iron Curtain. We plan annual excursions to various sections of the nature reserve; in 2021, we visited the Eichsfeld Borderland Museum and the Hainich National Park in the Thuringian Forest with our students.

As part of a new cooperation, we will be hosting two exhibitions this year to mark the 15th anniversary of the “horizonte Zingst” environmental photo festival.
